Podcast: Stepping Lightly, featuring Mark Burch with Dr. Randall Hardy
‘Voluntary Simplicity’ or ‘Simpler Living’ encompasses a number of different voluntary practices to simplify one’s lifestyle.
These may include reducing one’s possessions or increasing self-sufficiency, for example. Simpler living may be characterized by individuals being satisfied with what they need rather than want. Simpler living is distinct from those living in forced poverty, as it is a voluntary lifestyle choice. The benefits are less stress, more quality time with friends and family, work-life balance and reducing your personal ecological footprint (climate change is real).
Mark Burch eloquently states the case for voluntary simplicity: Becoming more mindful of your daily habits improves the quality of your life and allows you to become more self-reliant as a remedy against the exploitation of our natural resources driven by human greed.
‘Sane Simpler Living’ is Step 9 of our Shift 9 Mind-Body Wellness Program. [Seikon-Chikara is our new program and ‘Sane Simpler Living’ is part of the 3rd Gateway or Category, Shift Your Attitude / Psychology.]
